debian-updates is a simple script that sends an email or displays console messages if any relevant Debian security updates become available. debian-updates is ideal for running from cron.

Requirements:

The script is written in perl, and requires the use of only the LWP::Simple, and the Compress::Zlib modules - along with a connection to the internet.

What's New in This Release:

This release improves the handling of reporting available security fixes.

It does this by matching both on the Debian source package names and the binary packages that were built from them.

To keep up with the Debian project's security advisories, this release also handles advisories numbered above 1000.
