ModSecurity is an FREE and GPL lincesed software for intrusion detection and prevention engine for web applications.

Operating as an Apache Web server module, the purpose of ModSecurity is to increase web application security, protecting web applications from known and unknown attacks.

What's New in This Release:
This release fixes the actions "deprecatevar" and "nolog", a rule inheritance problem which occurred when there were no rules in the child context, and a problem which caused the contents of a request body to be lost between internal redirects.
It is now possible to decrease a variable value (not possible previously only because of a bug).
