mugshot-amarok is a script for Amarok to enable support for the Mugshot Music Radar.

Actually, it’s just a small Python script which implements a subset of the DBus interface exported by Rhythmbox. Mugshot can’t tell the difference between this script and Rhythmbox.

Requirements:
the Mugshot client and a Mugshot account
python
pygtk
dbus
dbus python bindings

USAGE:

Just enable the script in the Amarok script manager. There is no configuration to be done. You don’t need to restart Mugshot; the script will start working as soon as the next track starts playing.

This script actually works by pretending to be Rhythmbox, which is an alternate music player fully supported by Mugshot.

BUGS:

There are probably problems with running this script and Rhythmbox at the same time.

Not all of the metadata exported by Rhythmbox is exported by this script (e.g., file mimetype is missing). However, Mugshot doesn’t seem to use the missing data anyway.

There might still be a few problems with tracks using exotic character encodings.

What's New in This Release:
Use /usr/bin/env instead of /bin/env, this seems to be more common.
