Vector Linux is a small, fast, Linux operating system for Intel, AMD and x86 compatible systems, based on one of the original Linux distributions, Slackware.

The enormously popular Slackware is the true 'Unix' of Linux distributions and is used by major corporations, universities and home users alike. It's popularity stems from the fact that it is a robust, versatile and almost unbreakable system.

Slackware has been traditionally known to be about as user friendly as a coiled rattlesnake and that's where Vector Linux comes into play. We have produced a bloat free, easy to install, configure and maintain Slackware based system that is second to none.

Proud to say JohnB and yours truly have released SOHO 5.1 rc1. Lots of work went into bug fixes since the beta release.

This should be close to a final but we will let you make that judgement.

Here's the list of what has been done:

updated kdebase with a patch so command center works correctly;
root login fixed for virtual terminals;
new MPlayer without Samba dependency;
vliloconf fixed so LILO installs properly with or without boot splash;
new boot splash graphics;
hopefully KDM issues are fixed;
updated kernel source, please try your NVIDIA driver now;
more hotplug fixes;
some boot time tweaks to get things up faster....
