Audiolog scans in realtime logfiles and the output of debug or trace programs like tcpdump. A small configuration file assigns regular expressions to arbitrary sound effects.

What is so special about Audiolog is its small latency with that the acoustical signals are produced. This feature makes it very useful for monitoring real time traces like those during an analysis of network traffic.

Unlike with optical perception humans are able to process acoustical signals very fast and detect certain patterns or derivations from normality without attentiveness.

Audiolog is specialized for realtime events:

Multiple events are recognized at the same time. Multiple sound can be played in parallel.
The latency is very short. Its able to distinguish events occuring at rates of 20 per second and even more.
