NewsBruiser is a simple but full-featured Weblog application. It's easy to set up, easy to use, it won't make you install a lot of other software, and it's free! Download it now and give it a try!

NewsBruiser requires Python 1.5 and 2.x to run fine. Some features (like ReST formatting) require Python 2.x, but all of those are optional. NewsBruiser carries with it all the special libraries it needs, so you shouldn't have to install anything special.

If you get stuck, you can consult the documentation, which is under the www/doc/ directory, or available online at http://newsbruiser.tigris.org/doc/. You can also email me with questions or problems you have.

I want NewsBruiser to be the easiest to install and use of any weblog package. If you run into any problems installing it on your system, or using it afterwards, please let me know.

NewsBruiser is easier than ever to extend. A lot of the basic functionality is implemented with plugins, and if you know Python it's easy to add plugins. Take a look in the nb/plugins/ directory for lots of examples.

Here are some key features of "NewsBruiser":
Simple web-based installation and setup
Easily import entries from other tools (eg. Moveable Type, Manila) or RSS feeds
Customizable through CSS and a simple templating system
Several prepackaged themes
Categories
Draft entries
RSS syndication
Trackback
Integrated Creative Commons licensing
Easy to use (my mother uses it)
Easy to extend

What's New in This Release:
Fixed a bug found by Jarno which could allow an unauthenticated user
to take actions on comments.
Added per-comment permalinks based on human-readable date.
Fixed a bug that was causing entries to lose their categories when
saved as draft. (Fixed for real this time.)
