Alist is a program that collects information about a systems and stores it in a database for users to peruse.
The program consists of three parts; a client portion, a daemon that receives data sent from clients and a CGI that displays and lets you search for info.
Requirements:
Perl.
You will need Perl 5. The alist clients have been tested with perl as old as 5.003. The server side might work with perl this old, but you'll probably have better luck if you use 5.6.0 or newer.
Perl Modules.
The following non-core perl modules are required for Alist:
alist.cgi: CGI, Storable
alistd: All modules used are in the core Perl Library.
client/alist: All modules used are in the core Perl Library.
client/*.pm : All modules used are in the core Perl Library
except Win32.pm which uses Win32 and Win32API.
See README.Windows for more info.
Unix.
The server side programs will probably require some form of Unix to run. I've run alistd and alist.cgi on Solaris, Linux, FreeBSD and Mac OS X because that's what I have lying around. If you are running the server programs on another OS, send me an email
and let me know how they work.
Web Server software.
You need a web server to run the cgi. I've only tested with Apache, but others should work as well.
What's New in This Release:
alist.cgi: Added sorted display for lists of hosts.
alist.cgi: Added Fixed width fonts for better display of data fields.
Minor bugfixes for alist client.
Updated sun_memory script with latest (Jan 2004) version.
