autotools-idl is a patch for automake and some autoconf macros which add support for IDL and C++ ORBs.
autotools-idl tries to provide full support for compiling IDL files to C++ stubs and skeletons. The autoconf macros provide an unified detection of different C++ ORBs.
The two parts of autotools-idl are called automake-idl and autoconf-orb, respectively.
autotools-idl have been tested for:
- Operating systems: GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, NetBSD, OpenBSD, Darwin (MacOS X), CygWin (MS Windows)
- ORBs: omniORB 3.x.y, omniORB 4.x.y, MICO, ORBacus, VisiBroker
- GNU make, BSD make, Solaris make
- C++ compilers: GCC, Intel C++ compiler, Sun C++ compiler
autotools-idl are planned to be tested for:
- Operating systems: none
- ORBs: orbitcpp, TAO
autotools-idl does not support C ORBs (e.g. ORBit) and most probably will never do. Java ORBs are even more certainly out of the question.
autotools-idl may be distributed under the terms of the GPL.
What's New in This Release:
example5 has been fixed to work with FreeBSD/OpenBSD make and a build in a separate directory.
