GKSu is a library that provides a Gtk+ frontend to su and sudo. GKsu project supports login shells and preserving environment when acting as a su frontend.
It is useful to menu items or other graphical programs that need to ask a user's password to run another program as another user.
What's New in This Release:
Since the last 1.3 version, this is the first high profile stable release of the gksu application.
Together with the changes of libgksu, gksu now is able to use a global gconf setting to use su or sudo as the backend, handles "wrong password" better, and other things.
An optional nautilus addon was added, which adds an "Open as administrator" menu item to the nautilus context menu for various files and folders.
This menu item will open that file using the application that handles its type by default using gksu.
