Hardened Linux is a hardened distribution based on a minimalized Slackware Linux 11.0.
This distribution is still under heavy development.
Hardened Linux (a.k.a. "Wendzel Linux") is a security distribution with 3 main targets:
- maximum security
- maximum stability
- maximum usuability
It is optimized to run on as firewall system, vpn gateway, IDS system and authentication system. Currently not all of these features are fully implemented.
What's New in This Release:
This is the first release with a 2.6.x kernel (2.6.18.5-grsec).
It adds new packages, including snort and (in extra/) clamav, quagga (routing software), and havp (an anti-virus proxy).
Some package updates are available, including the new aide version 0.13 and a security-fixed gnupg version.
More of the included libraries are now compiled with ssp.
