KPorts is a frontend to Ports and PkgSrc, packaging systems most commonly used on the free *BSDs, but also available for GNU/Linux, Solaris, Darwin(MacOSX), IRIX, AIX + Interix(MS Unix Services for Windows).

KPorts will be an all-purpose Package managing tool, allowing to remove and to install, upgrade, downgrade or reinstall ports (upwards/backwards recursively), from the local ports directory, package sites or from local packages (support for installing and registering local source tarballs is also planned).

Updating the ports directory/ports database is also planned for the final release.

KPorts is targeted at all BSD end-users, being both easy-to-use, with discriptive Installation Wizards, but providing many options and complete command output for more experienced users.

Installation

extract tarball and run the following commands in the extracted tarball's root:

# WANT_AUTOCONF_2_5="1" WANT_AUTOMAKE_1_6="1" gmake -f Makefile.cvs
# ./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix` LDFLAGS=-pthread
# gmake
# gmake install (as root)

What's New in This Release:
Bug that prevented build on newer GCC versions was fixed.
