GTK2 Text Editor is a simple text editor which supports Unicode. It is especially suitable for editing multilingual XML and HTML texts (It can automatically close XML/HTML tags). It is also a nice Notepad replacement.

It supports many encodings (and so can be used as a text encodings converter). It supports right-to-left text for languages like Hebrew and Arabic and other tricky linguistic stuff (on any OS on which it runs, not only on Unicode OSes!).

Has nice look & feel. It has some handy features missing in Notepad, e.g. multilevel undo, returning to saved file discarding the changes (Revert), autoindent on Enter key etc.

What's New in This Release:
A stable release, mainly bug fixes.
Big changes: switched to GTK 2.4; added preferences to not ask encoding on file open; multiple windows.
