Guiftp is a simple FTP client using the GTK+ toolkit.
It should work if you have Linux (currently I'm using Debian 2.1 on a 386 box). If you're using another Unix... well you should try, I have no idea whether it will work or not (if it does tell me, and if not send me a mail to tell me what does not work)
Guiftp actually can connect to a remote host, download and upload files and directories. It supports interrupted transfer. Bookmarks are working. And you can do the usual operations: erase files and directories, create directories, erase directories recursively... on both the local and the remote computer.
