LEARNIX is a Linux distribution which runs off CD-ROM, a Live CD. That means there is no longer the need to install LINUX on a computer to be able to run powerful UNIX software.
LEARNIX is based on KNOPPIX with added software for building simulations, namely RADIANCE and ESP-r.
LEARNIX is compiled by the Low Energy Architecture Research uNit, LEARN, of the London Metropolitan University.
Requirements:
Intel-compatible CPU (i486 or later),
at least 96 MB for graphics mode with KDE (the more, the better),
bootable CD-ROM drive, or a boot floppy and standard CD-ROM (IDE/ATAPI or SCSI),
standard SVGA-compatible graphics card,
serial or PS/2 standard mouse or IMPS/2-compatible USB-mouse.
What's New in This Release:
Yes, it's true: Version 4.0.2 is out. As usual, with the latest and greatest of building simulation software: RADIANCE 3.7.2, ESP-r 10.12. Unfortunately, DaySim had to be removed due to incompatibilities, but do check out the latest RADZILLA, which now has a graphical interface to it (although still unfinished). Oh, and our tutorials on RADIANCE and ESP-r have seen new revisions, too.
