dvdrtools is a fork of cdrtools, with the primary goal of supporting writable DVD drives.

The initial version was released February 4, 2002.

dvdrtools is a suite of software based on cdrtools for writing DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, and CD-RW media.

Other modifications compared to cdrtools include:

Replacing the build system with standard autoconf/automake
Cleaning up and stripping down the code
Our primary development platform is Linux, and we like doing things the Linux way (dev=/dev/whatever, not 0,0,0)
Addition of tools for handling video DVDs
We don't believe in artificially extending the life cycle of obsolete technologies (like C compilers that can't even handle ANSI). For the sake of readability, support for some really obsolete systems has been removed.
This is a community project, maintained in a subversion repository. If you wish to join us, you get write access after showing us some code.

dvdrtools also includes basic support for mastering video DVDs.

What's New in This Release:
0.3.1 is a bugfix release for 0.3.0. It fixes mostly portability bugs; if you didn't have any problems with 0.3.0, there's no need to update.
