gotGaim project is a web based Gaim log reader and synchronisation system.

What does that mean? Basically gotGaim gives you an easy to use web page to view your Gaim logs and also provides a method to synchronise Gaim logs from multiple computers into one easy to access place.

The main reason for the existence of gotGaim is to enable people to maintain a sychronised set of Gaim logs over multiple computers, ie. sync for work and home PCs logs

AND

to provide a better, more user friendly way of reading your IM logs.

One of the main problems people have with Instant Messaging(IM) is that unlike email once you close the chat window theres a common thought that this information is lost. In some IM clients chats are not logged and that information is lost but thanks to the design of Gaim, your chat logs are stored in a sane manner and theres a wealth of information in them thats not readily available to the user.(Note: yes, you can read your logs in Gaim and it works- I just want a better way).

GotGaim is an attempt to make IM more user-friendly, by making logs accessible just like emails, people trust email because they know that the emails (as long as they dont delete them) can always be accessible in their inbox. With chat that don’t see it in the same light - chats are seen as for ‘disposable’ information - anything usefull would be emailed. It doesnt have to be like this. IM can be a more usefull tool once users information(chat logs) are made more reliable.

What's New in This Release:
Documentation and dev folders are now hidden from the Web view.
The -p option was added to rsync options, which keeps the file permissions intact.
