Kstreamrecorder project is a kommander application for playing/recording audio and video webstreams.
You can listen to every stream which is supported by your player. With Kstreamrecorder you are able to record mp3/ogg streams and mms video streams. The streams will not be encoded.
Needed programs: At least one audio player (Amarok, Xmms) and a video player (Kaffeine, Xine) for playing the streams. For recording the streams, you need streamripper (audio) and
mimms (mms video streams).
Usage: When you start Kstreamrecorder the first time, you have to create a textfile with your favorite streams. Go to the options menu and enter your streams. Insert the complete URL and a name for your stream. Spaces will be replaced with underlines. To complete the configuration, you have to insert a directory for saving the streams.
Now click on the "Streams" tab, choose your action (play or record), use the combo box to select your stream and click on "Start".
All mms links will be opened by your video player, everything else will be opened by your audio player.
Hints: If you want to encode an asf stream to mp3, you can use ffmpeg for this: ffmpeg -i < asf_file > -vn < final_file.mp3 >
For encoding asf video files i tried:
mencoder < asf_file > -ovc lavc -oac mp3lame -o < final_file.avi >
But the result is not usable, so i am still looking for a way to encode asf video streams. Mimms can't record .asx links directly, so you have to download the .asx link, open it with a text editor and look for the mms link. Add this URL to your streamlist.
Problems: Xmms don't open m3u files from the network. Mplayer don't start without an open console.
What's New in This Release:
switched from "konsole" to xterm to start applications
Now the streamlist is saved as a m3u file
Added mplayer as recorder
Real media streams can be recorded with mplayer
Added a record scheduler using at
Added 2 more streamripper options (Add sequence number to output file / Don't add ID3 tags to output file)
