OGMRip is an application and a set of libraries for ripping and encoding DVD into AVI or OGM files using a wide variety of codecs. OGMRip relies on mplayer, mencoder, oggenc, ogmtools and lame to perform its tasks.

The GUI features a clean HIG-compliant GNOME 2 interface and tries to minimize as much as possible esoteric settings.

Here are some key features of "OGMRip":
transcodes from DVD or files
outputs ogm, avi or matroska files
calculates video bitrate for a given filesize
calculates cropping parameters and scaling factors
supports multiple audio and subtitles streams encoding
provides a lot of codecs (ogg vorbis, mp3, pcm, ac3, xvid, lavc, x264)
uses maximum quality codec switches
rips contiguous chapters

What's New in This Release:
This version adds support for new containers and codecs (mp4, theora, aac, and vobsub) and options to set the video quality and the fourcc.
A lot of work has been done to improve A/V sync, to determine the size of the overhead and to detect cropping information.
The code has been greatly simplified and the API was reviewed.
Support for mplayer-1.0 pre8, libdvdread 0.9.5, and hal >= 0.5 has been added.
This release also contains its load of fixes and improvements.
