Translator is a simple front-end to AltaVista's excellent Babelfish. It is designed to integrate into the GNOME desktop, and as such features an (almost) HIG compliant interface, and support for GNOME's HTTP proxy settings.
You will need to install a few Perl modules to use it - namely the Gtk2-Perl bindings (as well as Gtk2::GladeXML and Gnome2::GConf) and WWW::Babelfish.
Important: also note that you will need a threaded Perl to use Translator. Most recent Linux distributions come with a threaded Perl. To test this, run this command:
perl -mthreads -e ''
If you don't see an error, all is well.
Requirements:
Perl
Gtk2-Perl
WWW::BabelFish
