FLEX-db the Open Source Digital Asset Manager

FLEX-db is an enterprise class digital asset manager (DAM). It ingests and links metadata with files (assets), much as the air traffic control system links data with airplanes so they can be tracked, processed and managed.

If your organization is looking for a solution to manage a large number of file assets, you have come to right place.

FLEX-db Architecture

FLEX-db is digital file asset management (DAM) software platform that enables users to effectively store, retrieve, present and manage large volumes of digital information. These “digital assets” may be in the form of videos, images, logos, documents, marketing collateral, articles, web pages, photos or other digital files.

The product is an enterprise class product meant for organizations managing hundreds of thousands of files. Prior to its release in open source, FLEX-db was a commercial product. It has been installed and is in use at many sites around the world. Though it is new in the open source community it has been proven.

FLEX-db is based on an n-tier J2EE architecture. It includes a web client interface (JSP), configurable metadata management through its EJB layer, a Java application server for file asset input and output processing and a Java administrative application.

FLEXdbServer includes the following:
